August 29, 2008 - Newly acquired, defensive
end, Jason Taylor suffered a sprained right knee in last Saturday’s 47-3 loss to the Carolina Panthers. We caught up with him for a very brief interview as he was signing autographs for the fans.
DCUrbanSports: Jason, how’s
the knee feeling these days?
JC: It’ll
stop hurtin’ when it gets better. That’s what I tell everybody. It’ll be alright.”
DCUrbanSports: Is there a timeframe for a full recovery period?
JC:
“I have no idea. I’m just trying to get back as soon as I
can.”
Jason also tells us he will not play
in tonight’s game at FedEx field, and does not know if he will be cleared for the Redskins’ season opener with
the New York Giants on September 4th.
More From the Luncheon
Gene Upshaw News
While nothing official was mentioned
at the Redskins Welcome Home Luncheon by the coaching staff, or owner Dan Snyder (who actually never addressed the crowd at
the luncheon), DC Urban Sports learned that prior to the passing of Gene Upshaw, former Redskin Brig Owens was considering Upshaw as a nominee for his annual Super Leader Lifetime Achievement Award.
The award ceremony is still in the works.
More info can be found at SuperLeaders.com.
As we told you earlier this week, memorial services for Mr. Upshaw have been planned for September 2,
at 10:30 am at the Kennedy Center Hall.
