February 27, 2010 - President Obama underwent his first physical exam as President of the United States at the
Bethesda Naval Medical Center on Sunday.
The physical examination was performed by
Dr. Jeff Kuhlman, a Navy captain and Physician to the President, Chief White House Physician and Director of the White House Medical
Unit.
After examining the president, Dr. Kuhlman's result show that the president is The in "excellent health and fit
for duty."
Of course no exam would be complete without a few recommendations, and Dr. Kuhlman made a few for President Obama - including lifting
weights to improve lower extremity muscle strengthening exercises for tendonitis in left knee, continuing cessation efforts (i.e. stop-smoking treatments),
and a continued modified exercise regimen.
The President's
colorectal results were normal, and
vision is 20/20 in both eyes with
mild myopia, astigmatism, and
presbyopia. The president showed no signs of
prostate cancer. The president's PSA was normal at 0.70 (normal <40).
At 48 years young, the president weighs 179.9 pounds (in clothing), and has a
BMI of 23.7%
The next recommended physical exam should take place when President Obama turns 50 in August, 2011.
