Love him, or not, Marion Barry still makes news in Washington, DC.
Apparently, in Washington, Barry is to politics what Chuck Brown is to Go-Go.
His latest documentary, The Nine Lives of Marion Barry, featured on HBO chronicles the rise and fall, and rise again, of the prominent mayor-turned-city councilman.
I wasn't even going to write anything on this subject, had it not been for the number of hits (views) received on
my photo album of the funeral of Barry's first wife, Effie.
Glancing at the photo log (which tracks the number of views received), I noticed the gallery had well over 1,000 views
since the viewing of Barry's HBO documentary which aired last evening.
Barry is hot, has been (and may still be) in the hot seat, and Washingtonians continue love, and show respect for him
(for the most part).
"My triumphs far outweigh my trials", said Barry.
Does Barry have nine lives? I can't say for sure.
One thing that is for sure: you got to take note of a man, who with all his vices, continues to rise above them, seemingly
to come out on top, and is still considered the people's 'Mayor For Life".
