Man of Many Hats (Pun Intended)

October 11, 2006 - Comedian and actor Steve Harvey brought his comedy, his radio show, and (repeat: and) his signature clothing line to the Nation’s Capital.

Steve, and his morning show co-hosts Shirley Strawberry, and “Nephew” Tommy broadcasted live from the campus of Howard University during Homecoming week.

The Steve Harvey Morning Show, a syndicated radio show that airs weekdays from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Howard University’s WHUR radio, is a myriad of comedy, information, advice, and modern day history makers.

Guests on the Steve Harvey Morning show range from NAACP president, Bruce Gordon; to actor Terrence Howard; to a NASA space engineer; to the first ever mother and daughter team working for the FBI.

DC Urban LifeStyle Magazine spoke with the show’s producer, Rushion McDonald, to find out what makes the Steve Harvey Morning Show so popular.

“The show is popular because of its interactive content.  The listeners can call into the show and speak to Steve.  Show segments like 'Strawberry Letter 23', and Steve’s 'Email Bag' continue to be popular.”

Adds Mr. McDonald, “The listeners dictate the success of the show.”

Later that morning, on location at K&G Fashion Superstore in New Carrollton, Maryland, Mr. Harvey signed autographs and helped fans coordinate suits with shirts and ties from his Steve Harvey Collection.

Steve’s fashion advice to the men (and women) gathered at K&G? — “Blend colors. Don’t try to match colors.”

DC Urban LifeStyle Magazine spoke with Director of Licensing for the Steve Harvey Collection, Richard Rosa, and learned that many more items are in the works for the collection to include cuff links, belts, and shoes.  "There will even be a young boys collection coming in Spring 2007", says Rosa.

K&G Superstore Regional Manager, Genevieve Fegans, was “pleased with the turn out at the store today.”  She says the store, a twelve-year landmark, “is a great place to shop.”
