Peace-o-holics to hold S'top Snitching Forum' at the Community
of Hope A.M.E. Church featuring State Attorney, Glenn Ivey; Inspector General, Mark Spencer;
Assistant US Attorney, Albert Hearing; Murder Witness, Kelly Hudson; Actor from HBO's
"The Wire", Backyard, and Young Men from the Street of D.C., Anwan Glover; and Attorney, Michael Worthy,
Esquire.
The forum is to be held Tuesday, May 12th, 2009, 6pm-9pm.
Peaceoholics
and Community leaders continue to dialogue with the community on the importance of practicing citizenship.
"We believe there is a such thing as snitching. However citizenship is often interpreted as
snitching and we must educate people in order to reduce the violence in our community. We believe the reason why most people
commit violent crimes is because they think they can get away with acts of violence", said a Peace-O-Holics spokesperson.
"However we must deal with the fear and retaliation for practicing citizenship."
One of the key panelists will be Ms. Hudson, a citizen, who's brother was killed. The
murder was witnessed by many, however nobody came forward to bring the predators to court to give her family justice. She
promised herself she would not let it happen to anybody else, even though it was hard she practiced citizenship which helped
bring the murder of Valencia Muhammad's son to court and convict him.
"We should also educate people on what snitching is; "you do the crime, you do your time" and
should not pass your sentence on to someone else."
There will also be a discussion on two victims, a forty year-old female who was recently killed
in broad daylight on the day that she was subpoenaed to go to the US Attorney's office, as she left a half-way house. It
was believed she was going to snitch.
Also in attendance will be youth and adults from the streets who are untrusting of the
judicial system or law-enforcement. As a result, they don't practice citizenship.
Community of Hope A.M.E. Church is located at 3701 Branch Ave. Temple Hills, MD.
You can also hear the forum on WPGC 95.5 from 6-9pm.
