In Support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Landover, MD - On Sunday, October 12 the Washington Redskins, with the support of GlaxoSmithKline and fraternity Zeta Tau Alpha (ZTA), will recognize Breast Cancer Awareness Month by distributing 42,000 pink breast cancer awareness ribbons to fans prior to the start of the Redskins vs. Rams game.

Led by Tanya Snyder, wife of team owner Daniel M. Snyder, Redskins players’ and coaches’ wives, the Hogettes, cheerleaders, alumni cheerleaders, ZTA volunteers and others from the Redskins family will hand out the ribbons from 11:00 a.m. until the 1:00 p.m. kick-off at stadium entry gates.

Sunday’s event marks the tenth anniversary of the Redskins partnership with ZTA for THINK PINK! ® and Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Over the past ten years, a quarter of a million THINK PINK! ® ribbons have been handed out to football fans at FedExField.

Also in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, specially designed, limited-edition, pink “R” hats are available for sale game days at FedExField, on www.redskins.com and at all 14 area Washington Redskins Official Stores during the month of October.

A $1 donation will be made from the sale of each cap to ZTA’s breast cancer awareness and education initiative, THINK PINK!®. Fans who buy the pink “R” hats at all Washington Redskins Official Stores will also receive 20% off any additional items when purchasing the pink “R” hat. This offer is NOT valid on Gameday at FedExField and can not be combined with any other offer.

About the Zeta Tau Alpha Foundation - The Zeta Tau Alpha Foundation is the philanthropic and fund raising arm of the Fraternity. The ZTA Foundation leads the effort in breast cancer education and awareness, provides $340,000 in scholarships annually, and sponsors educational and leadership opportunities for members and others. Typically during the month of October, chapters distribute THINK-PINK!® ribbons, BSE calendar stickers and shower cards. ZTA members have worked with 23 of the 32 NFL teams, distributing over 1 million THINK-PINK!® ribbons at over 100 games during the past 10 years.
