Helps Save Lives, One Child At-A-Time.

Praise 104.1, the newly created gospel radio station, and brain child of media mogul, Cathy Hughes, kicked off its first annual radio-thon this week to raise funds for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

St Jude’s Hospital is the world’s premier center for research, treatment of cancer and other catastrophic childhood diseases.

The station’s new Program Director, Matt Anderson had this to say about the radio-thon, “We are grateful to work with St. Jude and most importantly, impact as well as save lives.”

As of 8pm Thursday evening, the radio-thon raised nearly $180,000 (and counting).

Praise 104.1 FM, dubbed the DC's Station for Inspiration, is home to the Yolanda Adams Morning Show, from 6 am – 10 am weekdays, and began the radio-thon marathon, April 3rd.

Guests appearing live on the show featured Miss DC International, Rita Sinha;  Rev. Anthony Moore, Carolina Missionary Baptist Church, Fort Washington, MD; Washington Mystics' Bernice Mosby;  Pastor Anthony Maclin of The Sanctuary Kingdom Square, Capital Heights; Washington Redskins, Chris Samuels, and the legendary gospel sensation, Richard Smallwood.

Community supporters for the event included the DC Chapter of 100 Black Men, the Congress of Black Women, several sororities and fraternities, and the Peaceoholics. To make donations, call 1-800-345-HOPE (4673).
