Mystics Still On Win Streak!
July 17, 2007 - Yes, you can call it a comeback!
A rugged comeback from the team that looked like they were going down fast in the
first half.
The Mystics, down by twelve early in the game, and losing by fourteen at halftime,
found a way to come back to defeat the Houston Comets 65-58.
Mystics fans have now come to expect that the Mystics can pull a
trick or two out of the hat to work in their favor, especially in the 3rd or 4th quarters - sparked mostly by energy surges
from Alana Beard.
Alana Beard, this year's WNBA All-Star and the Mystics' reigning queen of 'on-the-court
hustle and flow', added 16 points to the mid-morning contest.
Ten year WNBA veteran, Tina Thompson had 14 points for the Comets.
DeLisha Milton Jones parlayed a double-double with eleven points and eleven
rebounds.
Nakia Sanford was fouled by Comets guard, Ashley Shields. Nakia hit the first of two free throws with 48.2 seconds left in the fourth quarter.
The Mystics would go on to outscore and out rebound the Comets in the final game minutes.
Houston’s center, Michelle Snow was awarded her sixth foul of the contest with 8.4 seconds left, sending Mystics' guard Monique Curry to the foul line where she converted two of two free throws to give the Mystics the seven point win.
Sweet revenge, in a game that had far too many uncalled fouls for more than a few
nasty plays by the visiting team.

Today's game marked the Mystics' Camp Day.
Several area camps from across the area were invited to the Verizon Center
to see the Washington Mystics in action.
