May 13, 2008 - The Washington Mystics are now 3-0 in preseason action as they win, 72-66, over the Houston Comets at
the Verizon Center.
Nakia Sanford was the high scorer for the Mystics with 14 points, followed by guard, Monique Curry
with 12.
Matee Ajavon led the Comets with 26 points, in front of Mistie Williams' six points.
The Mystics
have been making team cuts and trades to round out their 13 woman roster.
Previous team members, Gillian Goring, and
Tamara Jones were recently waived by the Mystics organization, while DeLisha Milton Jones, wanting a chance at a WNBA title,
was traded to the LA Sparks. (Which
answers this question).
The Mystics acquired, in a trade for DeLisha Milton Jones, Taj McWilliams-Franklin, and scored big
by choosing University of Maryland's
Crystal Langhorne in this year's WNBA Draft.
The Mystics defeated both Sacramento (May 5th), and New York Liberty (May 8th) previously,
and look now toward the season opener with Indiana Fever on May 17th at Conseco Fieldhouse.
The season's home
opener is May 25th when they will again face the Houston Comets, curently 1-2 on the preseason.
