Juneteenth is the oldest, nationally celebrated commemoration of the end of slavery in the United
States. On June 19, 1865, two months after the surrender of General Lee and more than two years after Lincoln signed the Emancipation
Proclamation, General Granger of the Union Army landed in Galveston, Texas, and issued General Order No. 3….ALL SLAVES

The Unified Committee for Afro American Contributions (UCAC) of St. Mary’s County, in beautiful
Southern Maryland, invites EVERYONE to enjoy a day of fun, festivity, and African American heritage the whole family will
enjoy! The day will culminate in dynamic performances by jazz sax man Phillip Martin, R&B vocalist Shang, and Cruise Control
Band and Show. Please bring a blanket or lawn chair...lawn seating only.
