DC Sports and Entertainment Commission announces RFK Stadium

Bus and Car Parking Logistics for Inauguration Events and

“A Day of Service for Our Military” event at RFK

 

INAUGURATION EVENTS - JANUARY 18 and 20, 2009

Free shuttle service between RFK Stadium and inauguration festivities will be available on January 18th and 20th for passengers parking at stadium lots. Shuttle buses will run in a continuous loop picking up passengers at two designated locations in Parking Lot 8 and dropping off at a designated location convenient to the Events. Once each Event has concluded, the shuttles will collect passengers at the downtown drop-off location and return them to RFK Stadium (drop-off locations listed below). 

 

JANUARY 18:

Event:              Obama Inaugural Celebration at the Lincoln Memorial

What:                Bus and Car Parking with Free Shuttle Service downtown

Buses - $50; Cars - $15

On-line registration for bus and car parking is available at www.ClickandPark.com

Where:              RFK Parking Lots 3, 6, 7, 8 

When:               Parking Lots Open 7:00 am – 9:00 pm

Shuttle:            Free Shuttle Service provided for bus and car passengers parking at RFK Stadium

Shuttle Bus Loading Location: Two Bus Loading Tents will be set up at the East side

of Parking Lot 8 (along the Anacostia River)

Shuttle Bus Drop-Off & Pick-Up Location: Independence Avenue between 7th and 9th Streets, SW. Passengers will walk from drop-off point to Inaugural Celebration, then back to the pick-up location for return to RFK Stadium.

 

JANUARY 20:

PLEASE NOTE: PARKING ON INAUGURATION DAY IS LIMITED TO REGISTERED BUSES ONLY

***INDIVIDUAL CAR PARKING IS NOT AVAILABLE***

Event:              2009 Inauguration Ceremony

What:                Registered Bus Parking Only with Free Shuttle Service downtown (Registration Closed)

Where:              RFK Parking Lots 6, 7, 8

When:               Parking Lots Open 4:30 am – 8:00 pm

Shuttle:            Free Shuttle Service provided for charter bus passengers parking at RFK Stadium

Shuttle Bus Loading Location: Two Bus Loading Tents will be set up at the East side

of Parking Lot 8 (along Anacostia River)

Shuttle Bus Drop-Off & Pick-Up Location: SE/SW Freeway at 7th Street. Passengers will walk from drop-off point to the National Mall, then back to the pick-up location for return to RFK Stadium.

 

 

“A DAY OF SERVICE FOR OUR MILITARY” AT RFK STADIUM - JANUARY 19, 2009

As part of Martin Luther King, Jr. National Day of Service activities, thousands of volunteers will assemble 75,000 care packages for troops overseas. The event will take place inside a heated tent on the field of historic RFK Stadium starting at 10:00 am. Volunteers can register at www.serve.dc.gov.

 

JANUARY 19:

Event:              “A Day of Service for our Military” at RFK Stadium

What:                Bus Parking and limited Car Parking available

Buses - $50; Cars - $10

Where:              RFK Parking Lots 3, 6, 7, 8

When:               Parking Lots Open 7:00 am - 9:00 pm

Shuttle:            No Shuttle Service available
