Defeats North Carolina A&T
Howard University Bison won their homecoming game 35-27 over the North Carolina A&T Aggies this
past Saturday, scoring 20 points in the fourth quarter alone.
The Bison were a bit rocky in the first two quarters and found themselves trailing 20-8 at half time, but made an amazing
turnaround in the game’s second half.
“We made some mistakes in the first quarter, but the guys believed in themselves and stayed the course, said
head coach, Carey Bailey.
The homecoming win, under coach Bailey, gives the team
a 3-4 record.
Several game highlights that carried the Bison to their
victory included a 30 yard touch down pass from Brian Johnson to Jarahn Williams that
gave the Bisons a 27-22 edge with 3:40 in the fourth quarter.
Karlos Whittaker, the Bisons’ running back threw a 27 yard pass with 2:40 in the 4th quarter, while Robert
Parker caught an Aggie interception that garnered the third and final touchdown in the fourth quarter.
Bisons’ star running back, Terry Perry went down early in the game, but that didn’t stop the Bisons from making record achievements throughout the game.
The Bison threw for 409 yards on the game; produced
269 passing yards, along with 140 rush yards. Total ball possession was thirty-eight
minutes.
The Bison victory over the Aggies has Howard winning two out of three previous meetings; however, the Aggies still
hold a 19-16-1 advantage dating back more than twenty years.
The Aggies, after their lost to Howard, are now 0-8 on the 2007season.
Howard, who lost last year’s homecoming competition to Morgan State 12-18 in overtime, meet Norfolk State (7-1) for their upcoming homecoming on October 27th.
