November 8, 2007 – The DC Hilton was the place to be for an amazing evening of fundraising for a good cause. It was where boxing legends where honored, and where up and coming boxers have hopes of success and longevity.

It was where three tenures of DC Mayors united. It was where you could hear legend in his own right, MC Hammer shouting from ringside “Jab, jab, upper cut."

It was where Ted Nugent played the National Anthem on his guitar, and where American soldiers of the Iraq war where recognized for their service.

It was ‘Fight For Children’, an annual boxing event that raises money for DC area youth in an effort to serve as a catalyst for positive change.

Now in its eighteenth year, FFC continues to garner support of those in business, sports, entertainment, and government who make sure area children are given the opportunities they need to learn, grow, and succeed. This year’s event hosted boxing legends Hector Camacho, Ray “Boom Boom” Mancini, Joe Frazier, Ken Norton, and others. Jake “The Raging Bull” LaMotta was honored by being the first inductee into the Fight Night Hall of Fame.

Since its founding by Chairman and CEO, Joseph E. Robert of the J.E. Robert Companies, FFC has raised over $70 million that has supported over one hundred organizations.

This year's event raised $2 million dollars.

Previous benefactors of the event include the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Alexandria Boxing Club, Big Brothers/Big Sisters of the National Capital Area, and the Latino Student Fund.

Seen at the event were music legend Quincy Jones, music producers Dallas Austin and Jermaine Dupri, and businessmen who could, and did, pay over $100,000 for auctioned merchandise.

All-in-all, a fun night for a good cause that even had a few boxing matches too.
