invited a few friends to help celebrate his 30th birthday (officially July 28, 2007) in Newburg, MD this
past Saturday.
At a home equipped with 3 levels, a pool, lake, plenty of food, performances by a
hula dancers, fire handlers, fireworks, and a live performance by the god-father of Go-Go, Chuck Brown, the party in
addition to being a birthday celebration for Samuels, also took place to raise awareness of the Chris Samuels Foundation.
The soiree was home to many of Chris’
friends to include Redskins’ Clinton Portis and Jason Campbell, along with Wizards’ Gilbert Arenas.
WKYS 93.9 was the official party sponsor and awarded Mr. Samuels with an award for ‘Outstanding Community Service’.
A photo, painted by a local artist, of
Samuels in official Redskin jersey was also presented.
Chris, a native of Mobile, Alabama is known
for giving away homes to a deserving resident of low-income areas.
Recently, Chris and his foundation awarded
a new home to a family who withstood the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
Samuels has received support from Democratic
presidential forerunner, Barack Obama for his efforts.
A somewhat humble philanthropist, Samuels
did not disclose the value of the home.
Samuels is also involved with other community efforts to include assisting
area youth.
