He credits healthy eating, water (oxygenated), prayer, having a
joyful and thankful spirit, along with support from friends and family to his success and survival of the disease. His advice
to other men who may be diagnosed: “Change your attitude to adjust your
altitude”, and above all “get away from fear and false education accepted as a reality”.
When others ask why he has gotten the disease, Brother Bey stresses even though he has lived a healthy lifestyle,
he "is not exempt from getting sick".
Brother Bey prides himself in having a positive outlook and projects
this aura to all he meets. Being a community activist, giving of his time and
talents, Brother Bey has made a difference in the lives of many to include Dick Gregory and Iyanla Vanzant , and countless others in the Washington, D.C. area. He has been labeled “the natural food specialist” since the 1970s. Having opened the first natural food restaurant in Baltimore, MD, he has prepared
food for Earth Wind and Fire and other celebrities who have visited the area, and was nutritionist for the late civil rights
activist, Rosa Parks.
He has several natural food cookbooks in the making, and was recently
asked to prepare a meal for CBS' Good Morning America.
