Dream Big: Pastor Wintley Phipps with US Dream Academy Kids.
May 18, 2001 - The 2010 US Dream Academy gala took place at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Washington DC. This year marks
the 9th annual fundraiser for the non profit organization aimed at providing enrichment and educational opportunities for
at-risk youth in over ten cities.
The event honored outstanding individuals for their commitment to youth and their community involvement and was hosted
for the third straight year by actor Chris Tucker and News 7 anchor, Cynné Simpson.
Honorees included Dr. Bernice King, Judge Joe Brown, Mary Tucker, Dan Rather, Charles S. Dutton,
The Honorable Sheila Jackson Lee, and actress Angela Bassett.
The organization named Ashley Tyrrel as youth Mentor of the Year.
